What Shorts does

Shorts takes one long video — a podcast, an interview, a webinar, a stream — and gives you back finished vertical clips you can post. It watches the whole thing, picks the moments that hold up out of context, reframes each one to 9:16 around whoever is speaking, and burns in word-timed captions.

What it does not do is hand you a finished file and wish you luck. Every clip opens in the built-in Clip Editor on a real multi-track timeline, so a cut that lands two seconds early, a caption line you want reworded, or a crop that drifts off the speaker are all still yours to change. Clipping tools that export and stop leave you re-editing somewhere else.

What kind of video works best with an AI shorts generator?
Anything where someone is talking: podcasts, interviews, webinars, streams, lectures, panels. The picker is looking for moments that make sense without the surrounding hour, so the more self-contained points a video contains, the more usable clips come back.
Can I edit the clips it produces?
Yes, and this is the main difference from export-only tools. Every short opens in the Clip Editor with its cuts, captions and reframing intact and editable on a multi-track timeline, instead of arriving as a finished render you either accept or throw away.
Do I need to upload a file, or can I paste a link?
Either. Paste a link to a video or upload your own. If you want to see it run before committing your own footage, the door offers a public-domain sample you can send through the whole flow in one click.
How is this different from OpusClip?
Two things. Every clip stays editable in a real timeline afterwards rather than arriving as a take-it-or-leave-it export, and the same subscription also covers thumbnails, B-roll placement, speech cleanup, captions and the full BudgetPixel image, video and music platform — which clipping-only tools do not include.
